The handsome chestnut bears striking similarities to Ridgemont Highlands’ outstanding young sire Rafeef, with both Rafeef and Real Gone Kid being lightning-fast performers from the Redoute’s Choice male line.

A son of Redoute’s Choice’s greatest sire son, thus far, Snitzel – himself a four-time, consecutive Champion Sire in Australia and Leading Sire of 2YO’s in Australia on three occasions – has sired more than 120 world-wide stakes winners.

Hailing from a wonderful female line, Real Gone Kid is a son of Equus Champion, and Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas and Gr1 Woolavington 2000 heroine, In The Fast Lane – a daughter of seven times South African champion sire Jet Master.

In what is seen as a very exciting opportunity, any breeder who sends a mare will incur no covering cost. If a breeder commits to sending a mare every year for four years they will receive a share of the horse which will entitle them to a further free service every year, plus any dividends that the stallion may earn thereafter.

An understandably delighted Craig Carey said: “Without a doubt Real Gone Kid has an international standard pedigree that wouldn’t be out of place in any stallion barn around the world. Access to a bloodline of this strength and quality is very exciting – Ridgemont Highlands are committing to send Real Gone Kid a minimum of twenty mares every year, for four years.”

‘Obviously this year we are only going to have 50% capacity with 27 500 people there, but it might work in our favour given it is our first time doing the event’- Devin Heffer

In what will be a major boost for a race that already looks set to ignite the imagination of the South African public, multiple champion record-breaking jockey Piere ‘Striker’ Strydom is set to partner Justin Snaith’s 2020 winner Belgarion

Apart from topping the Horse of The Year Table, she also tops the Champion Older Female category, is fifth in the Champion Sprinter category, fourth in the Champion Miler category, and fifth in the Champion Middle Distance category

Despite being rocked by Piet Botha’s 6yo ‘Ringo’ at Kenilworth on Sunday, Justin Snaith’s class act Belgarion is very much on track for the Hollywoodbets Durban July

Gold Circle look forward to welcoming thousands of horse racing fans to the 2022 Hollywoodbets Durban July
